My girls (yeah, we're cool like that!), Kat and Rachel over at Mustard Seed Photography, sent over this lovely Bryan wedding and I couldn't wait to put it up on the blog.  I know we're going into Fall, but this wedding has "Spring" written all over it.  The pale pinks, light blues and greens provide the perfect backdrop for this garden party themed wedding.  The grounds and buildings of Astin Mansion in Bryan create the perfect scene for guests to take in this gorgeous affair.  And of course, Kat and Rachel, did an unbelievable job with the photographs.  Did you check out that shot in front of the soda shop?-yeah, it's pretty amazing.  Check out even more goodness on their blog.

From the Bride...I really wanted our wedding to glorify the Lord in reflecting us as a couple. The overarching design theme was "vintage garden party." We love being outside and we also love the ease of classic Southern style. Ian is from the deep South so we wanted it reflected as much as possible in the style of the wedding without being literal. The Mansion, with its 1920s Georgian Style, reflected that beautifully. Being able to use all the interior and exterior space allowed us to have the casual elegance we wanted. We are also both very easy-going people. Stuffy and traditional were two things we didn't want our wedding to be. We held to the traditions we both value but we tried very hard to focus on what mattered at the wedding, rather than how to impress everyone else.

I am an event planner by profession, so the details are where my heart are. I had all my closest girl friends create something for the wedding with their favorite Bible verse or advice to decorate the Mansion. My heart was so full when I saw everything come together and how much my friends love us. Their creations were put on the mantels, in book shelves, and on tables. The flowers were by far and away my favorite part of the day. My florist Bobbi took everything I said and ran with it. I collected different sized antique jars and vases before the wedding which were used all over the mansion. Bobbi also found gorgeous brass buttons to include in my bouquet. She tied different color ribbons to each one of my bridesmaids bouquets. These details gave the wedding a vintage and soft feel. To keep with the vintage feel, Ian and I set aside time after the ceremony to take photos in the Historic Downtown Bryan. Some of the shots Kat and Rachel took there are absolutely stunning. Ian loves that he has a photo of us next to an old hardware store and in front of a soda shop.

I created, printed, and put together all of the program fans, as well as welcome bags which included ear plugs (Bryan is the home of very, very busy train tracks which can be heard all through the town, often keeping you up at night), our favorite local cookies, and a map of the town with our favorite places, which was designed by a talented friend of ours. For our guest book I used a large Sangria glass jar and gold leafed a small label onto it. Our guests all signed a wine cork and placed it in the jar which now decorates our home. I made hair flowers for all my wedding party and my mother hand made each one of the girls adorable aprons. I had so many more DIY plans, but lets face it, you can only do so much before you turn into a crazy person.
