I have to admit, I have a preference for non-traditional wedding venues. Whether it is a museum, a park, or even a private home…I just love the idea of taking an unexpected place and turning it into a beautiful space to hold a wedding. However the more weddings that I help with and attend, I realize the logistical convenience of holding your wedding celebration at a venue designed for weddings and large events, such as a hotel, country or social club, or catering hall. Thus, the case for the hotel wedding emerged. It’s amazing the resources that are available to you when you hold an event in a five-star venue. Fully-stocked kitchen, tons of waitstaff, top-notch audio visual equipment…the list could go on and on. Have a slight mishap with the cake icing? Have the in-house pastry chef come by and do a little touch-up work. DJ missing in action? Utilize the hotel’s in-house sound system to pipe out some music until the DJ arrives. And in Texas, there is no shortage of superb hotels and clubs to. consider for your wedding venue. And many of them are not as traditional as you may think. Here are 7 reasons why you should consider having a hotel wedding.
1. Hotel wedding venues know what they are doing.
Hotels, especially those with large ballrooms, are used to hosting weddings and, because of their experience, they are easily able to accommodate such a large event. Some hotels even offer all-inclusive wedding packages, where all that you will have to do is show up and provide your apparel and stationary! If you want the ease of having most of the work done for you and want the comfort of knowing that your venue has successfully hosted a large number of weddings, getting married in a hotel may be the best option for you.
2. Having a hotel wedding can be very convenient.
Did you know that having hotel wedding venues can be very convenient? You and your wedding party can stay there for the weekend and use your rooms to get ready. It also makes it easy on your wedding guests. Most hotel wedding venues will allow you to book a block of hotel rooms (sometimes at a discounted rate), and your wedding guests can book rooms from this block. They will get to stay right where the party is happening! Not only that, but many hotel wedding venues are in popular parts of town and can be very walkable. If you are getting married somewhere where you or your guests may want to go around town and explore, a hotel wedding may be a great option for you.
3. Hotels can be beautiful wedding venues!

4. Hotel wedding venues often cost less than other wedding venues.
While some hotels do have a pretty high price tag for their weddings, they are typically cheaper than other venues that are designated only as wedding venues, such as ballrooms, barns, etc. If you want a budget-friendly wedding, getting married in a hotel can be an ideal option. By getting married in a hotel, you can also save a lot of money on vendors. Most hotels provide the tables, chairs, linens, and often even the catering packages. Be sure to ask about all-inclusive packages!

5. Hotel wedding venues provide a lot of space!
If you are having a large wedding with 250 or more guests, a hotel wedding venue is more than likely going to be your best option. Most hotel venues are designed for large events. They often have large ballrooms or multiple rooms that are available for you to use on your wedding day. With a larger hotel venue, your guests will feel comfortable on your wedding day with plenty of space.

6. At a hotel, an on-site wedding coordinator may be provided.
Are you on the hunt for a wedding coordinator? If you are considering a hotel wedding, the hotel may actually provide one! Typically hotels provide a day-of, on-site coordinator who is very familiar with weddings at that particular hotel. Some may also provide a wedding planner. This is definitely something to ask when you are looking at hotel venues! It can save you a lot of stress. This person will be able to guide you through the planning process and will make sure that everything runs smoothly on your wedding day.
7. You can keep the party going!
With a hotel venue, you don’t have to end the party at a certain time! While they may ask you to leave the ballroom or event space by a certain time, if you have a block of rooms, you can keep the party going. They may even have a hotel bar where you can go with your guests who want to keep enjoying the event. Just remember that not everyone staying at the hotel is part of the celebration, so you will still want to be courteous, but hotel wedding venues are fun for weddings that want to go late into the night!
Happy Planning!
