When you are in the early stages of wedding planning, transportation probably is not the first thing that comes into your mind, but it is a very important part of your wedding day and is definitely not something that you want to forget about. Whether you are looking to transport your guests, get your wedding party to and from the ceremony, or even just a getaway car for you and your groom, there are so many different options to choose from.

Have you started searching for wedding transportation options? If you head straight to Google, the results page can seem so intimidating! How are you supposed to know which companies are trustworthy and reliable for such a big day? These three tips will help you choose wedding transportation services that will be perfect for your wedding day.

Wedding Transportation Tip #1: Pay attention to details that matter

This might seem vague, but look for red flags at the start of your search for wedding transportation options. First, any limo or party bus company with an ancient website isn’t one to consider. If they can’t create an easy-to-use web experience, it doesn’t bode well for their customer service. The same can be said about the modern features within the vehicle.

Second, if you don’t see any clues on their website that they specialize in weddings, move on. It’s not worth the risk to trust an elegant wedding to a company that mainly deals with nights out and bar hopping.

You also want to make sure that you read reviews! Most wedding transportation companies will have set up an account on The Knot, and brides who have used them before can post reviews. Be sure to check this out before scheduling (or even reaching out to) a wedding transportation company. If there are bad reviews, the brides may have even mentioned who they ended up using instead or what company was able to swoop in and save the day!

Wedding Transportation Tip #2: Schedule an in-person tour

Asking if you can come to look at vehicles before placing a deposit is a surefire way to separate the good from the bad. Shady companies will avoid this at all costs! You’re looking for transparency, as it makes a big difference in their trustworthiness. When you look at a vehicle in person, you know exactly what to expect. No surprises on your big day! When looking at wedding transportation options, be sure to check the number of seats and the condition of the vehicles. You want one that will be comfortable and spacious enough for your guests and one that is in good condition and will fit with the aesthetic of your wedding day.

Wedding Transportation Tip #3: View the contract

We always recommend signing contracts, and it’s no different with wedding transportation companies. The contract is where you will find tricky things like extra charges in the form of fuel and tips. There will be language about what they consider damage and how much they will charge the card on file. You also want to pay close attention to their arrival time, departure time, how many guests they can hold, how long you have access to the vehicle, etc. Be sure to read all of the fine print. You don’t want to end up getting charged a ridiculous amount for something as trivial as a missing stereo cord while you’re on your honeymoon!
